Alaska really is the last frontier.
I’ve never seen such an abundance of wildlife; everywhere you look a bear, a bald eagle, a leaping whale. And such stunning natural beauty.
Travel has a way of distilling everything down, making things seem crystal clear and making me feel present in a way I sometimes don’t in my daily routine. The cool ocean air and millions (literally, millions) of acres of wild, open space did me good.
[My photographic regret is that I was too lazy to haul any extra lenses and thus only had a 50mm. That means some of wildlife in these images is like a game of Where’s Waldo, but it also means those Dall Porpoises were close enough to touch. Also, the 50mm didn’t do the scenery justice. Next time I’m bringing the arsenal.]
