I love photographing dogs. There isn’t a shoot I go on where I don’t remind myself to be totally thrilled about the fact that I have a perfect excuse to spend the next hour rolling around of the floor with a new canine friend. But I definitely enjoy switching it up on occasion, so when Kelsey asked if I’d do her maternity shoot I was more than happy to oblige. I never can get over the fact that when you’re shooting people you can just tell them where to go, and there they go, off to the exact spot you wanted. It’s crazy. You don’t have to tempt them with little bits dried up chicken liver or some equally awful smelling thing, and you don’t have to repeat “stay…stay…stay…” like a broken record, desperately hoping the dog will just stay put for, like 30 more seconds while you change your ISO.
Also, Kelsey is completely in shape, perky, upbeat and drop dead gorgeous. (I will have accomplished something great in my lifetime if these are adjectives that can someday used to describe me when (if?) I am ever pregnant).

Also, Kelsey’s marvelously long hair painfully reminds me how it’s going to take me about 15 years to grow my hair back after I chopped a good fifteen inches off a year ago.

I’m crazy about this last shot; such a lovely moment between the parents-to-be. Can’t you just see how much they love each other? Lucky, lucky kid.
