That blogging break lasted much longer than I meant it to. Basically FOREVER. I am sick and tired and a little bit blind from dealing with all of this website baloney. Don’t even think about going to the main page of my website right now; it’s a complete and utter disaster. I have enlisted some much needed help with that fiasco, so hopefully it’ll be ironed out pronto. In the meantime I would love to get any feedback on the blog design. There are still a few things here and there that need to be tweaked, but you get the idea. Also, everyone should take a moment to appreciate those custom post titles. (If you’re not seeing them, let me know. I will probably throw my computer against a wall, but better to know now). So, yeah, I would estimate I spent about 10 hours getting those custom fonts to work. It may not sound that important to you, but I’m the mule-headed type that gets an idea in my head and just cannot let it go. I was running into a multitude of problems and dead ends, and then Mary saved the day. THANK YOU, MARY.

I have an insane amount of client shoots to catch you up on, but I’m going to hold off on those for at least another day. I’ve been unusually, monumentally stressed out lately. It’s just been one of those months where you feel like the universe is stacked against you. So I’ve been in the mood for a little frivolity.
My dad’s girlfriend, Dee, has an amazingly artistic eye and is an avid collector of… well, stuff. But really, really cool stuff. She’s an estate sale monger and you would not believe the things she comes away with. I am especially enamored with her collection of vintage ladies’ hats, and because Roux is so unusually talented at balancing things on her head, I have wanted to do a vintage Roux shoot for a few months. Last week, in the midst of all this stress, I took an afternoon off, set up my studio, and Roux and I had a costume party. The thing that never ceases to amaze me about this dog–and I realize I’m more than a little biased here–is that Roux actually wears the hats. If I didn’t know better I would swear she has a highly advanced set of cultural references and knows exactly what, say, a film star from the 1920′s looked like. Or a housewife from 1962. You’ll see what I mean.

I caught this moment after the shoot, while I was starting to put everything away. She’s definitely hoping that looking cute and standing still will earn her more Mozarella.

Tomorrow I’ll get back on track with client shoots. Thanks for your patience!
