Tucker

I knew Tucker was going to be photogenic–what six month old Dane puppy isn’t?–but he turned out to be even more photogenic than I expected. I met Laura in Golden, which has long been one of my favorite spots to shoot–every time I meet a client there we stumble upon new spots to shoot.  So many lovely spots for such a small town.  We were unbelievably lucky with the light that evening; just overcast enough while we were shooting in town to give us the richness in color I wanted, and then gloriously sunny on the mountain afterwards.

I took this next photo for the sole purpose of showing you what kinds of things actually comprise the backgrounds of my photos.  This is what I used for that red background: A Goodwill drop box.

These next shots were taken on Table Mountain in Golden, the open space I walked or ran on with the dogs almost every day I lived in Golden.  I feel really nostalgic about that space, and I think somehow that’s reflected in the dream-like quality of these photos.  Whatever part my own emotional attachments played (what do you photographers out there think about whether your own attachments to a particular place affect the way you photograph it?), what I love most about these photos is that they tell Laura and Tucker’s story.  I think you can see the beginnings of their relationship in these photos; you can see how they are working out what their respective roles are, laying the groundwork of a companionship that will last a lifetime, and I think that is so totally cool.  After all, isn’t that what it–all of this–is actually about?

Weird synchronicity! Somebody mentioned visiting a town called Golden to me just yesterday, I don’t know if it’s the same one, but it was somewhere in the US…how very odd. Oh, great pics, too.

Simply beautiful. Love the contrast of the almost studio-ey ones (thanks for the backdrop info!) and the wild outdoors ones. And with a name like Tucker (like my own fur baby!) what’s not to love?!

I Heart These More Than You Know. The Dog. The Backdrops. The Deep Thoughts In the Last Paragraph. I Love Taking People Or Pets To A Place That Is Meaningful To Me. I Think That Because A Location Means So Much To Me I Try Extra Hard To Stir Those Same Emotions With The Clients. Beautiful Claire!
