Jen and Shawn are a golden couple; equally big-hearted and quick to laugh. They were married in Ohio, but spending their first weeks as a married couple in Africa was a given. Jen has spent countless hours from their home in New York working on a non profit, and months over the span of years living with villagers in Takaungu, so for her, sharing this place and these people with Shawn was huge. And for me to to come along to document their new marriage in one of their most sacred places was nothing short of incredible.
These portraits and images were taken in the coastal village of Takaungu, a nearby sisal Plantation, and the streets of Mombasa. The images at the end of the post were taken at the Vutakaka School. (You can read more about the school and the East African Center here).
We spent the second half of the trip on safari in Masai Mara; those images will be up before too long.
