Portraits of Petra, Bryan and their lovely little dog, Galena on a snowy Ohio day in February.
Stefanie, Dane, and their Viszla, Bella, cut down a Christmas tree last week in the outskirts of Columbus.
Four pairs of pancake-sized floppy ears, four sets of droopy old-man eyes, sixteen stubby little legs. In no particular order : Bogart, Bailey, Bentley + Maddie.
I spent the evening with Jaci, Matt + and their dogs on a warm summer evening in rural Ohio. Better even than an engagement session, these photographs were taken on Jaci + Matt’s 14-year anniversary, almost to the day.
Catherine and Michael have been wonderfully loyal clients who happen also to dish out great travel advice. They were the impetus behind the Crazy Bitches’ stop in Tofino (go if ever you get the chance), and are currently on a two-week road trip with their dogs in a pop-up camper which is about as awesome as it gets in my book.
Images from an engagement session with Jen + Zach and dogs Lily + Mosley under an (almost) cloudless Colorado sky.
Images from an afternoon with Sherman, King Charles Spaniel, confidant and comrade to the lovely Adrianne.
Several weeks ago a representative from Kong contacted me asking if I would take some photographs of our dogs playing with their toys.

Images from an afternoon with the sweet, 17-year-old Maggie.
Images from our holiday adventures and misadventures. Photographed in the hills of Ohio and the nether regions of Colorado and New Mexico, by both Mr. + Mrs. Roeth.
Images from a session with the McClearys, both sets of in-laws, and special appearances by Bernese Mountain Dog, Carson, and Rhodesian Ridgeback, Waldo. I say more folks should do portraits with adult families. And dogs.

On this pre-Christmas Friday I’m very much looking forward to seeing and spending time with some of my very favorite people and to a restorative week.
A very happy holidays to you and yours.
Spending an hour with 7-week-old Salvador did nothing for this case of puppy fever I can’t seem to shake.
One day a few weeks ago I washed our dogs. Then Roux did living room laps until she dried while I blow dried Prada, which took two hours. By the end of it she looked so pretty I took her portrait.
Images from a shoot with Haley, Olivia, Liam + their Goldendoodle, Zoe in New Albany, Ohio. A winter shoot in Ohio with the sun! And blue skies!

Images from a visit with some White Shepherds.
Images from a session with the regal Zoe [Akita] + her goofy little brother, Ozzie [Greater Swiss Mountain Dog] at their Colorado mountain home. Also, a few images schemed up for a holiday card.
Collette is a bad ass little dog. Brandon + Christie are her equally cool human counterparts.
Hudson is a 7-year-old, 3-legged Great Dane with the kind of grace so many dogs have and so many people find elusive. He’s got a cancer diagnosis too, but you’d never know it. He’s a handsome boy, and a happy one, too.
Sometimes I like to think Roux seeks out the best light in the house at any given time and lays in it, waiting for me to catch on and take her photograph.
Roux and Prada, Todd and I : a quintessential fall day in the heart of America.
A Newfoundland with a mohawk and a killer rooftop in downtown Denver.
A rescue Dane with a sad history, Lucky is indeed lucky to have found Susan.
My little sister got her first puppy last winter. That puppy is a real dog now, and I didn’t realize it until I edited these photos, but my little sister is a real grown up lady now, too.
Whenever I know my life is about to dramatically change I try to take incremental photographs of my life, the way it is right then.
